Building a New Islamic Community
Moyamba is a historic district in Sierra Leone with a longstanding Muslim presence, yet for decades its youth have had little access to structured Islamic learning.
During this time, missionary institutions have filled the void, expanding through schools and social services. Where strong Islamic institutions are absent, faith and identity weaken, as Moyamba has shown.
Ummah Welfare Trust is building a new Qur'anic Tarbiyah Academy to provide Islamic learning from childhood to adulthood, rooting communities in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ.
With your support, the Academy will promote academic excellence, tarbiyah-centred character development, vocational training and community services. It will also help produce teachers, scholars and preachers who can serve the wider West African region, inshaAllah.
Located in a vast area with limited Islamic infrastructure, this Academy will serve as a vital resource for Sierra Leoneans for learning, leadership and Islam.
What Will Be Built?
A complete ecosystem for Islamic education, tarbiyah, wellbeing and sustainability, designed to serve Moyamba and the wider region for generations.
Islamic Primary School
To build strong foundations in faith and identity.
Islamic Secondary School
Preparing confident young Muslims for leadership, higher education and meaningful public life.
Madrasah and Tahfidh
Structured memorisation and Islamic studies rooted in understanding, reflection and sound aqeedah.
Multipurpose Hall
Hosting lectures, exams, training sessions and community gatherings.
Vocational Skills Centre
Life-ready training that builds self-reliance, dignity and economic resilience.
Medical Clinic
Accessible basic healthcare services that promote wellbeing and community trust.
Office Block
A base for administration, teacher development and regional training initiatives.
Playing and Sports Facilities
Encouraging teamwork, physical development and positive youth engagement.
Agricultural Area
Supporting school feeding programmes while teaching farming skills and self-sufficiency.

Income-generating units designed to support operations and reduce long-term donor dependency.
