Raising Money Online

Discover simple and effective ways to raise money online, inspire supporters and make a meaningful difference for people in need.

How It Works

Create your own fundraising page in minutes

Ummah Welfare Trust has linked up with fundraising platforms such as JustGiving to provide you with an easy and effective way to collect sponsors and money for your own fundraising campaigns.

It takes just five minutes to set up your own web page. For JustGiving, log on to www.justgiving.com/uwt and follow the instructions to build your page.

Once your page is complete, you can forward the page address to family, friends and colleagues. They will then be able to donate online with a credit or debit card.

Donation Allocation Every pound received by Ummah Welfare Trust is allocated towards the fundraiser’s intended project.

This applies to funds received through fundraising platforms such as JustGiving and Givebrite.

Important Information

Before you start your fundraising page

Please read the following guidance carefully before creating and sharing your fundraising page.

Platform fees

Depending on the type of payment and card used, the fundraising platform may deduct a certain amount from the money donated. For JustGiving, see justgiving.com/info/fees.

Fixed-price projects

For projects with fixed prices, set your target slightly higher than the required amount on any platform that deducts fees, such as JustGiving.

Zakat donations

If the project accepts Zakat donations, include wording on your page explaining that a small charge may be applied by JustGiving before forwarding the donation to the Trust.

Project availability

Please ensure any projects that you are fundraising for are being implemented by Ummah Welfare Trust. Stay updated via the website.

Events and activities

For fundraising events or activities, please seek Ummah Welfare Trust’s advice. The charity will advise in line with its policies.

Track your progress

To ensure your fundraising progress can be tracked, please email donations@uwt.org before starting your page.

Construction Projects

Fundraising for masjids, water wells and full units

Ummah Welfare Trust aims to spend every donation within 12 months. If you’re fundraising for a specific construction project, such as a masjid or water well, and intend to sponsor an entire unit, please be aware that there is a 12-month fundraising window.

If the full unit cost is met within 12 months, the project will be added to the construction queue and completed within its specified timeframe, inshaAllah.

If the collected funds are not sufficient to fund a whole unit after 12 months, they will go into your chosen project’s general pool, which supports community-funded units and covers shortfalls. Personalisation and feedback will not apply in this case.

Alternatively, if the donations are enough to fund a different, lower cost construction project, subject to availability, they can be redirected accordingly. This option will only be available if the fundraising page clearly informs contributors from the start that their donations may go to a fallback project if the target isn’t met.
