Empowering widows with dignity, care, and sustainable support through one of Ummah Welfare Trust’s vital programmes.

Support a Widow

Widowhood remains one of the Ummah’s greatest challenges. Sadly, millions of our sisters live as impoverished widows and single mothers, struggling to survive.

Supporting themselves is even more difficult when they have children to care for, especially in countries that do not offer financial aid.

‘The one who strives for widows and the poor is like the mujahid in the way of Allah, (or) the one who stands in the night prayers and fasts during the day.’ [Bukhari]

Due to wars and oppression, many widows are under the age of forty. Yet, remarriage is often difficult, and with children still in tow, many require long-term support to achieve stability.

As part of its commitment to uplifting widowed sisters, Ummah Welfare Trust provides vital household support, helping widows feed their children, repay debts, and plan for a more secure future, inshaAllah.

This programme assists widows in Iraq, India, Jammu and Azad Kashmir, and Pakistan.

Losing a husband leaves many women without essential financial and emotional support. Some are denied their rightful inheritance, lack access to credit, or are abandoned by relatives. It is upon every believer with honour to help preserve their dignity.

Be generous towards this noble project and help the Ummah’s most vulnerable.

Zakah, Sadaqah, and Lillah can be given.

Helping a widowed sister creates a profound Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity) legacy for you or the one on whose behalf you donate. The ongoing rewards you will received for helping widows include, but are not limited to:

  • Every meal a widowed mother and her children eat.
  • Every household expense covered, easing her burden.
  • Every good deed performed in her home, sustained by your generosity.
  • Protecting the small assets she may have.
  • The comfort and peace of mind she gains  knowing she is supported.
